A method of manufacturing a glass particulate sedimented body, comprising the steps of stacking glass particulates (soot) on the surface of the start rod while reciprocating a rotating start rod and glass particulate synthesizing burners parallel with and relative to each other and moving the turn-around position of a relative motion in a specified direction, characterized in that the sedimentation of soot is performed with distances between the burners positioned at both ends in relative movement direction and the burners adjacent thereto are smaller than distances between intermediate burners other than the burners positioned on the both ends.
