The fuel injection system comprises a fuel injection valve (1) which has a valve closing body (4) that interacts with a valve seat surface (6) in a valve seat body (5), to form a sealed seat. At least one injection opening (7, 49) is located downstream of the sealed seat and is sealed in relation to a fuel inlet (16) by the sealed seat. The injection opening (7) has a jet-shaping section (34) which consists of a wall section of the injection opening (7, 49) that is thin in relation to a pressure chamber (44). The pressure chamber (44) can be subjected to pressure with a pressure fluid.
