PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film scanner which can read out both a film in cartridge and a strip film. SOLUTION: A film in cartridge which is housed in a cartridge chamber 2 is fed out from the cartridge chamber 2 by a film feeding means. Images on the film are converted into electric image signals by an image read means. The cartridge chamber 2 is provided with an attachable adapter 1, and the adapter 1 is attached onto the cartridge chamber 2, so that a strip film is led to an image read means for reading its images. The adapter 1 is provided with an inlet to which the strip film is inserted, a film passage by which the strip film is led to the image reading means, and a film driving means which is connected with the film feeding means and moves the strip film through the operation of the film feeding means.
