PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for diagnosing batteries making it possible to diagnose a battery without causing decrease in system performance. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a means for diagnosing a single battery during the diagnosis of batteries which constitutes a group of batteries, and a means for urging a system to operate the batteries normally, except the battery under diagnosis.
