METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DE-LAMINATING FLEXIBLE LAMINATES FROM RIGID SUBSTRATES

Method and apparatus for de-laminating flexible laminates from rigid substrates, preferably used for the de-lamination of polariser films from flat panel video displays. The apparatus comprises a supporting stage having a generally planar upper surface adapted to support said substrate and having a slot extending therethrough such that a leading edge of said laminate detached from said substrate may be fed through said slot, clamp means located on the opposite side of said stage from said upper surface and aligned with said slot, for engaging and gripping said leading edge of said laminate, and drive means for applying a pulling force to said clamp means. The support stage is stepped so that the upper surface of the stage on a downstream side of said slot is at a different height from upper surface of the stage on an upstream side of said slot, the height difference being substantially equal to the thickness of said laminate.
