摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorbing structure for a shift lever device that is structurally simple. SOLUTION: An angled shock absorbing member 16 is mounted on a sidewall portion 14C and a bottom wall portion 14D of a box 14 covering the lower portion of a shift lever. An impact portion 28 is formed just above the upper end of an energy absorbing portion 16B of the shock absorbing member 16, and upon application of a secondary collision load by an occupant at a collision, a portion whereat a notch 30 is formed breaks apart so that the sidewall portion 14C of the box 14 is separated from the bottom wall portion 14D and is displaced down. The impact portion 28 then presses on the energy absorbing portion 16B to buckle it and absorb energy. A new additional part is only the shock absorbing member 16, and the structure can be simple.
