PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily pull back a pilot body to a starting vertical shaft through the inside of a drive pipe laid underground in advance without raising an extra cost. SOLUTION: In this pipe jacking method, a jacking machine B as a pilot body is arranged inside a drive pipe A and is pushed forward by an initial pushing device D, then a new jacking pipe 1 is succeeded to the drive pipe A, a transmitting member C having a length almost equal to that of the drive pipe 1 and a strength capable of transmitting the thrust to be given to the jacking machine B is succeeded to the jacking machine B, and a thrust is given to these drive pipe 1 and the transmitting member C for the driving. Through the inside of the drive pipe 1, the transmitting member C and the pilot body B are pulled back to the stating vertical shaft E and the jacking pipe 1 is embedded in the natural ground.
