PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent and low-cost image forming apparatus to generate no abnormal image. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus with an image carrier 100 to carry an electrostatic latent image, a developing device 400 to form a toner image by supplying toner to the electrostatic latent image of the image carrier 100, an intermediate transfer body 501 to carry the toner image to be transferred from the image carrier 100, a primary transfer means 500 to transfer the toner image formed on the image carrier 100 on the intermediate transfer body 501 and a secondary transfer means 600 to perform secondary transfer of the toner image formed on the intermediate transfer body 501 onto a transfer material P, mechanism to neutralize the charges of the intermediate transfer body 501 after the secondary transfer is provided by applying voltage to the intermediate transfer body 501 by abutting the secondary transfer means 600 to it at prescribed timing. |
