PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a classification apparatus which can improve the dispersibility in a dispersion chamber by an easy change of the apparatus or can improve the classification accuracy in a classification chamber and can highly efficiently separate particles having sizes in a required range; and a production method for a toner using the same. SOLUTION: This classification apparatus comprises the dispersion chamber 9 into which a solid substance is supplied to be dispersed therein and a classification chamber 10 which is positioned below the dispersion chamber 9 and in which a swirling flow is formed to subject the solid substance to centrifugal separation. In the apparatus, a dwell prevention member 11 for preventing the supplied solid substance from dwelling in the upper part of the dispersion chamber 9 and an annular member 7 for preventing a coarse powder from being led to a fine powder discharge port 4 below a guide member (a conical member) 6 for guiding the solid substance to the classification chamber 10 are set up.
