PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup unit capable of performing image pickup at a proper angle of view without generating any complication. SOLUTION: A control part judges which state of a first direction D1 and a second direction D2 a lens unit is put into (a step S101). Then, when the lens unit is put into the state of the first direction D1, a picture image formed on a CMOS by a lens is digitally zoom IN processed and read by a picture reading processing part (a step S102), and picture display processing is operated (a step S104). Also, when the lens unit is put into the state of the second direction D2, the picture of a subject image formed by the lens is digitally zoom OUT processed and read by a picture reading processing part (a step S103). Then, the subject is displayed at a display part based on the zoom OUT processed picture data (a step S104).
