The invention relates to an isolated polynucleotide (1) and a process for the fermentative preparation of L-amino acids using coryneform bacteria in which at least the hisC2 gene is present in the attenuated form, and the use of polynucleotides containing the sequences according to the invention as hybridization probes from coryneform bacteria (1) coding for the KisC2 gene.
