PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monoalkylation method of a hydrocarbon substrate containing an aromatic hydrocarbon compound. SOLUTION: In the monoalkylation method, an aromatic substrate is brought into contact with an alkylating agent comprising a mixture of an olefinic compound and a polyalkylated aromatic compound in the presence of a fluorinated sulfonic acid.
