PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably perform continuous recording without being affected by a large quantity of a defective region existing on an information storage medium, if any, and to stably manage image information without burdening the record/reproduction application software layer. SOLUTION: This information storage medium is provided with a first region recordable by a user and a substitute region for the defective region on the information storage medium, and first address numbers specifying the addressed in the first region are applied. At least one defective region and the substitute region are included in the first region, and address numbers are applied to at least one defective region and the substitute region.
