PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend dynamic range of video signals and also to attain a correct performance of gamma correction and white balance. SOLUTION: At an imaging element 2, long-time exposure and short-time exposure are performed field-by-field to acquire a signal consisting of long exposure signals and short exposure signal. The signal is applied to a camera signal processing circuit 6 to generate a brightness signal Y and each color signal consisting respectively of the long exposure signals and the short exposure signals, so that white balance adjustment of each color signal is performed. The signal Y and each color signal outputted from the circuit 6 are respectively applied a predetermined gamma correction in a gamma correction circuit 7 at every long exposure signals and short-time exposure signals, then, the signal Y and each color signal are separated to the long-time exposure signals and the short-time exposure signals by a switch 13 to be stored in different memory circuits 8, 9, and to be read and added in an adding part 10 in such a manner that the long-time exposure signals and the short-time exposure signals in the same field become those signals in the same phase.
