PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device such as a digital printer that corrects the luminance of image data so that the lightness (density) of major object parts such as a skin part of person is proper when printing out an image photographed by a digital camera or the like. SOLUTION: A monitor screen displays image data to be corrected and a user uses a mouse or the like to specify a skin part to the like of a person being a major object. Then pixel data included in a selected range from the image data are extracted, a mean value of the luminance data in the selected range is calculated and the luminance correction amount is calculated so that the calculated means value of the luminance data reaches a prescribed proper luminance. By using the obtained luminance correction value, the entire image data is corrected and by using the corrected image data, an image formed.
