PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser control device and an optical disc device, in which reliability of record reproduction can be improved by preventing miss-irradiation of laser caused by run-away of firmware. SOLUTION: The laser control device includes a central processing apparatus 201 for controlling the whole; a switching circuit 203 for carrying out on-and-off of a laser drive line; and a logical circuit 207 for comparing a bit string sent from the central processing apparatus 201 and a bit string set beforehand as a key, and instructing ON of the laser drive line to the switching circuit 203 when the fed or sent bit string and the set bit string are agreed.
