PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a magnetic recording control device give a duplicated signal wave which is equal in size and symmetrical, with good reproducibility, and to make the device carry out a high reliable magnetic duplication. SOLUTION: In initializing the magnetization before duplicating magnetization, the alternating magnetic field of which polarity varies in the perpendicular direction Y (or perpendicular Y and horizontal direction X) is supplied to the recording surface of magnetic recording layer of a magnetic recording medium 2, and the alternating magnetic field strength is decreased gradually with time, and the magnetic recording layer is demagnetized over the whole region.
