PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) powder soluble in numerous organic solvents, which is excellent in thermal stability, stability in air, solubility to numerous organic solvents, conductivity and penetration. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises polymerizing a 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene monomer(formula 1) using an oxidant, in solution containing a dopant represented by formula 2, and drying the polymer to solubilize it in numerous organic solvents. In the formulas, X represents SO3H, SO3Na, and R and R' represent 2-ethylhexyl.
