METHOD FOR FORMING METALLIC FILM ON RESIN MOLDED ARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a metallic film on a resin molded article, which permits to efficiently incorporate a polar group in a high density into a resin molecule on the surface of a resin molded article and to form a metallic film having excellent adhesion properties on the resin molded article. SOLUTION: A plasma treatment is effected to split a bond of a molecule of a resin on the surface of a resin molded article 1. Then, plasma is introduced onto the surface of the resin molded article 1 by a downstream method thereby to allow free radicals in the plasma to reach mainly the surface of the resin molded article 1 and a polar group is incorporated into the molecule of the resin on the surface of the resin molded article 1 by the action of the free radicals. Subsequently, a metallic film is formed on the surface of the resin molded article 1. Thus, a polar group can be efficiently incorporated in a state where the molecule of the resin of the resin molded article 1 is cleaved. The treatment for incorporating the polar group is effected by means of free radicals to avoid etching of the surface of the resin molded article by ions having high energy thereby permitting highly dense formation of the polar groups.
