<p>An optical density inspection device, wherein a first 0.7-µm light beam (B1) from a first light source (12) not transmitting shred tobacco (LS) and a second 1.3-νm light beam (B2) from a second light source (14) transmitting the shred tobacco (LS) are synthesized into a synthesized light beam (B12) for beaming onto a tobacco rod (TR). Projected quantities of light, reflected quantities of light and transmitting quantities of light of the first and second light beams (B1, B2) are measured by composite light receiving elements (27, 43, 57), a projected-quantity-of-light control circuit (36) and computation circuit (48). The computation circuit (48) calculates the transmitting quantity of light of the second light beam (B2) transmitting the shred tobacco (LS) based on the projected, reflected and transmitting quantities of light of the first and second light beams (B1, B2), and calculates the density of the shred tobacco (LS) based on the transmitting quantity of light.</p> |
