<p>A connection assembly (1) between a spinal implant rod (A) and a vertebral anchor. The assembly has a longitudinal member (2), a housing (3), a rod interface washer (4), and a compression member (5). The longitudinal member has an aperture (6) at one end and a wedge (9) at the other. The housing has a passageway (8) to accept the shank of a bone screw (B) and a bore (17) to accept the wedge. The bore is open to the passageway so that when the wedge is pulled from the bore (17) it pushes against the shank of the bone screw, trapping the bone screw between the wedge and the sidewalls of the passageway. Threading a setscrew (5) into the aperture presses a spinal rod (A) against the washer (4), presses the washer against the housing (2), and pulls the wedge (9) against the shank of the bone screw. Further tightening of the setscrew then locks the bone screw and rod together.</p> |
