PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress effect of dispersion in characteristics of TFTs(thin film transistors) constituting pixels, variation in display periods and fluctuation of luminance of EL elements die to the change of ambient temperature under which a display device is used in the active matrix type EL(electroluminescence) display device. SOLUTION: In this display device, one frame period is divided into plural sub-frame periods and display is performed by changing a voltage to be applied to EL elements of pixels for every sub-frame period and by using a time gradation system. Thus, a display device in which fluctuation of luminance of the EL elements due to the change of the ambient temperature is suppressed by using a gradation display method which is hardly affected by dispersion in the characteristics of the TFTs of a pixel part and variation in display periods is obtained. |
