PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery with enhanced service life performance by inhibiting self-discharge or decrease in electrolytic solution to the same extent as in the event that a Pb-Ca alloy current collector is used, and by improving adhesion of an active material to a corrosion layer produced on a surface of a positive-electrode current collector to prevent a passivated layer from being formed at an interface between the current collector and the active material. SOLUTION: In this positive electrode for the lead-acid battery, a lead alloy layer containing an alkaline earth metal exists on, at least, part of surfaces of a lattice made of a lead alloy containing Ca not more than 0.12% or pure lead, and the density of the formed active material is 3.3 g/cm3 or more. |
