The injection valve incorporates a swirl generating element, formed by swirl channels (36), which are located in the upstream side (33) of the valve seat body (5) and are open towards that side. The valve needle (3) has a radial expansion (31) upstream of that upstream side. The channels are open grooves, and the groove bases are positioned on a first conical surface (41). The valve seat surface (6) has a second conical surface (42).
