Treatment of hypertriglyceridemia and other conditions using LXR modulators

This invention provides methods for identifying compounds that are suitable for use in modulating fatty acid and triglyceride biosynthesis, and thus treating conditions such as hypertriglyceridemia and lipodystrophy, among others. Provided are in vitro assays by which one can conduct prescreening to identify candidate therapeutic agents that are suitable for further testing, as well as assays for identifying agents that are useful for administration for treating conditions associated with abnormalities in fatty acid and triglyceride biosynthesis.
