PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating electric machine capable of virtually making the air gap small. SOLUTION: This brushless generator includes a front bracket 1, a rear bracket 2, a stator 3, a rotating shaft 5, a core 6, poles 7, 8, a ring 9, a field core 10, a field winding bobbin 11, and a field winding 12. An air gap 18 is formed by the facing surfaces of the field core 10 and the core 6, and air gaps 19, 20, 21 by those of the poles 7, 8 and the stator 3, by those of the pole 8 and the field core 10, and by those of the core 6 and the pole 7 respectively. A magnetic paint, consisting of magnetic material particles and bonding materials is applied on the members in contact with each air gap. Tensile strength of this magnetic paint is set less than junction strength, so that when the generator is destructed by an external force, rather than interfacial separation but the destruction of a base material occurs.
