<p>A safety needle assembly (10) has a needle (12) with a pointed tip and at least one generally planar wing (20 and 22) attached via a pivot pin to the needle. The wings are moveable between an unguarded position wherein the tip of the needle is exposed to facilitate insertion of the needle and a guarded position wherein access to the tip of the needle is inhibited so as to reduce the likelihood of inadvertent needle stick.</p> |
