The cleaning device (5) for a motor vehicle windscreen comprises a washing nozzle on a pivotable arm (1) and a washing liquid supply line (9) whose cross section within the region of the pivotable arm has an alterable area for flow of the washing liquid. When the cleaning device is switched on, this area becomes larger than it is in its original state, i. e. with the cleaning device switched off.
