PURPOSE: A method for informing the reception of a message according to a peripheral noise is provided to inform a user that contents received in a pager exist by sensing the peripheral noise and automatically converting the mode of the pager into a vibration mode or a sound and vibration mode. CONSTITUTION: If a message is received after selecting an automatic conversion mode for informing the reception of a message, an MCU(Microprogram Control Unit) senses a peripheral noise and compares the sensed peripheral noise with a reference value. If the peripheral noise is greater than the reference value, the MCU converts a predetermined mode into a vibration mode to generate a vibration or converts the predetermined mode into a sound and vibration mode to generate a sound and a vibration. If the peripheral noise is less than the reference value, the MCU performs only the predetermined mode.
