PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an insect repellent composition capable of preventing insects from swarming (crowding) in a place where animals are bred. SOLUTION: This insect repellent composition contains an oil phase component which is extracted from the trunk, branches, leaves or their coarse-grained materials of a plant belonging to Cupressaceae, such as Chamaecyparis obtusa and Thujopsis dolabrata by steam distillation.
