A backrest section (6) runs parallel to the rear section (5) when the sofa is fully assembled. The backrest section is connected to both the rear and seat sections (5, 7) by articulated joints. At least one pair of levers (1) are used to operate two articulated joints (9) for converting the sofa into a bed. The levers are linked to a fixed structure (11) in the sofa frame by articulated joints.
