<p>An apparatus (10) for removing air, solvents, and other chemicals from an inkjet ink is provided. A vacuum pump (30) applies a vacuum to the ink stored in a container (12) at a level greater than the vapor pressure of the ink. Valves (32) interposed between the pump and the storage containers are selectively opened and closed. The cycling allows for removal of the air and solvents, and when the valves are closed, maintains the containers under a vacuum so that air has sufficient time to migrate to the surface where it is then removed THE next time the valve is opened.</p> |
