A liquid cleaning composition comprising alpha -sulfofatty acid ester, hydrotrope, and nonionic surfactant is provided. The alpha -sulfofatty acid ester and the hydrotrope stabilize the composition by reducing pH drift and/or solubilizing the alpha -sulfofatty acid ester in solution. Methods are also disclosed for making such compositions.
