<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a display device suitable for portability by using a magnetic thin film. SOLUTION: The display device is constituted of a polarizer 11, a magnetization fixing layer 132 for rotating the polarization surface of incident light by an angleϕ, a magnetization switching layer 13 for rotating the polarization surface of incident light to the + side or the - side by an angleθin accordance with a magnetization direction allowed to be inverted, a reflection film 15, a magnetization direction control means 16 for controlling the magnetization direction of the switching layer 13, and a transparent substrate 17. Since the rotation of a polarization surface by an angle 2 (ϕ+θ) or 2 (ϕ-θ) is received by the time light made incident on the polarizer 11 is reflected by the reflection film 15 and returned to the polarizer 11 in accordance with a state that the magnetization direction of the layer 13 is upward or downward, a difference of the intensity of reflected light transmitted through the polarizer 11 can be increased by setting the anglesϕandθto suitable values.</p> |
