PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To diversify the display form on information such as a figure in an electronic clock of a system for displaying by either of the natural light and the backlight. SOLUTION: This electronic clock is constituted by including a polarization plate 11 for passing the linear polarized light turning in the certain direction and absorbing the polarized light other than that, a liquid crystal element 8 capable of selecting either of a state of changing the polarization axis of the passing polarized light and a state of not changing the polarization axis, a polarized light separating film 12 arranged on the opposite side of the polarization plate 11 by sandwiching the liquid crystal element 8 and the backlight 18 for radiating the light to the liquid crystal element 8 through the polarized light separating film 12. The polarized light separating film 8 passes the linear polarized light in the certain direction, and reflects the linear polarized light in the right-angled direction to that. When displaying the information such as the figure by using the emitting light of the backlight 18, the information is displayed by a light emitting color of the backlight as indicated with an arrow D. |
