PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for processing photographic materials which is simple in maintenance, is environment and user friendly and is small in a cost and required space, and to provide a method for the same. SOLUTION: The respective processing apparatus of the apparatus provided with one row of the continuous processing devices 12, 14, 16 and 18 have inlets 78 and outputs 77. Low-volume processing and transfer passages 64, in which the photographic materials and processing liquids are transferred are disposed between the inlets 78 and the outlets 77. The processing and transfer passages 64 have replenishing sections 68 and discharging sections 70 respectively near the inlets 78 or near the outlets 77. Storage containers 100 for storing the processing liquids have crushable tanks 110 for the fresh processing liquids and crushable tanks 120 for storing the used processing liquids.
