PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance image quality, in a partial overlap recording system, by suppressing floating of an overlap raster from a nonoverlap raster. SOLUTION: A recording head 2 is provided with 64 nozzles in the sub- scanning direction. Upstream side nozzles #62-#64 and downstream side nozzles #1-#3 are arranged on the same main scanning lines by sub-scanning of four times to form overlap rasters, respectively. #62 nozzle and #1 nozzle form dots at a ratio of 3:1, #63 nozzle and #2 nozzle form dots at a ratio of 1:1, and #64 nozzle and #1 nozzle form dots at a ratio of 3:1.
