PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of cutting removal. SOLUTION: This cutting remover for a wire electric discharge machine comprises a permanent magnet 5b, an auxiliary electromagnet 9, a driving means for positioning the permanent magnet 5b and workpiece base metal 3 relatively and removing a cutting 4, a linear driving means for changing the relative position of the auxiliary electromagnet 9 to the permanent magnet 5b, and a first controlling means for executing control of placing the auxiliary electromagnet 9 near to the cutting 4 and exciting the auxiliary electromagnet 9 so as to align a magnetic flux direction G1 by the permanent magnet 5b and a magnetic flux direction G2 by the auxiliary electromagnet 9, during attraction of the cutting 4, and second control of placing the auxiliary electromagnet 9 near to the workpiece base metal 3 and exciting the auxiliary electromagnet 9 so as to oppose a magnetic flux direction G3 about the permanent magnet 5b and the cutting 4 and a magnetic flux direction G4 by the auxiliary electromagnet 9, between a predetermined intermediate state of the removal of the cutting 4 from the workpiece base metal 3 and the removal end.
