PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve frontward visibility with an inexpensive system configuration and without giving dazzling light to preceding vehicles. SOLUTION: Inter-vehicle distances D1, D2 and D3 to preceding vehicles A, B and C are detected by a laser radar mechanism for divided zones Z1, Z2 and Z3 as predetermined angular ranges previously laterally divided into three in order to obtain vehicular front information, respectively, optical axis raising target anglesθH1,θH2 andθH3 of a vehicular headlight (headlamp) according to the inter-vehicle distances D1, D2 and D3 are calculated, and the optical axis direction of the headlight is adjusted by the most lowest angle out of them. Thereby, optical axis raising control without giving dazzling light to the preceding vehicles can be realized without complicating the system configuration, and the optical axis of the headlight is so suitably adjusted and controlled as to be raised from an optical axis target angle in normal control, so that the frontward visibility can be improved.
|
