PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for continuous casting in which a most surface layer is formed on the surface, the uniform contact with molten metal is obtained, the corrosion resistance and the wear resistance are strengthened with a means of comparatively low cost, the stable continuous casting is realized for long term and the quality of a cast slab can stably be secured. SOLUTION: This mold is formed of a mold base material having >=100 W/m.K thermal conductivity and the most surface layer having >=300 Vickers hardness and 0.1-20 W/m.K thermal conductivity through an intermediate layer having 0.5-1.2 times of the above base material in the thermal expansion coefficient and >=150 Vickers hardness Hv. Further, the uniform contact with the molten steel is stably secured by forming discontinuous projecting parts on the surface in order to consider that the quality of the cast slab is stably secured.
