PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for communication by which the information on call originators can be registered easily and, in addition, the originators of incoming calls can be grasped easily. SOLUTION: When received call originator ID information is on an uninformed ID, a prescribed color registered for uninformed IDs is selected. When the information is on the ID of a preregistered unacceptable caller, a prescribed color registered for refusing incoming calls is selected. When the information is on the ID of an acceptable caller preregistered in a telephone directory, a prescribed color registered in the telephone directory is selected. Then an LCD illuminating LED 305 illuminates the displaying section 304 of an LCD.
