PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable sure recognition of an error page at a receiver side and detection of an omission or the like of a received page if a reception error occurs, for example, in a normal G3 communication in a specific communication mode. SOLUTION: When one-side transmission according to a normal G3 mode in a transmitter is selected and a remote receiver having a double-side receiving capability is detected, a double-side transmission is not designated for the receiver from the transmitter in the sequence before facsimile transmission (step S28), control information regarding a page to be transmitted by a protocol of the double-side transmission is transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver in an inter-page protocol (step S30).
