The system includes a laser beam focussing device for focussing a laser beam or beams. A movable beam deflecting device is arranged between a laser source (14) and a fixed beam deflecting device, for spatially varying the entry point of the laser beam on the fixed beam deflecting device. A detector senses the laser beam reflected onto the optical storage device. An Independent claim is included for an optical storage drive.
