<p>A press pad (10) is provided for use in a laminating press for the production of laminate sheets, such as decorative laminates, laminated floorboards, and printed circuit boards, using low pressure and high pressure single daylight and multi daylight presses. The pad (10) comprises a woven fabric of heat resistant strands wherein a substantial proportion of either the warp (11) or the weft (14) comprises a resilient elastomer (18) and the other substantially comprises metal strands (12) or strips (13). Some or preferably all of the resilient elastomeric strands (15) are wrapped in a metal foil (16). The pad (10) can thus comprise one wherein both sides present surfaces which are completely covered in metal, greatly increasing the heat conductivity of the pad over conventional pads without any reduction in its springiness. A method of manufacturing the pad (10) with a warp (11) substantially comprising metal strands (12) of strips (13) and the weft (14) substantially comprising the resilient elastomeric strands (15) is also provided.</p> |
