PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the components combined with a deodorant whose significant deodorizing effects can be retained without losing such property even under highly humidified environment, whereas EDTA zinc that can be easily disposed of and used as an aqueous solution is adopted as it can be uniformly coated, in particular, because of its excellent dryness and adhesion, and is immersible in a sponge, without clogging cellular holes of spongelike foams consisting of continual bubbles and well compatible with a deodorant and antibacterial agent. SOLUTION: The components of a deodorant for sponges with the viscosity of 2,000 to 4,000 cps containing EDTA zinc of 5 to 30 wt.% of the entire volume as a deodorant component and ethylene-vinyl acetate resin of 45 to 55 wt.% of the entire volume as a high molecular binder.
