PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce occurrence of damages to the lamp body at the formation of the reflection layer by thinning the fluorescent layer of the lamp body, and eliminate use of a special support jig by suppressing thermal deformation of the lamp body at the joining of the lamp body and the lid in a flat fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: The flat fluorescent lamp comprises a lamp body 10a having a spiral groove 14 at the bottom, a spiral shape discharge channel 10b that is formed by covering the inner circumference of the spiral groove 14 by a reflection layer 17 and a phosphor layer 18, a lid 10c that is joined with the lamp body 10a and covers it up tight, and a pair of discharge electrodes that are provided at the lamp body 10a and face each top end of the discharge channel 10b. The lamp body 10a is constructed of crystallized glass and the lid 10c is constructed of amorphous glass, and the lamp body 10a is made white opaque color and improved in thermal expansion strength, and also made to have an equal coefficient of thermal expansion with the lid 10c.
