PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inclined magnetic head having simple structure and excellent contacting characteristic, a method for recording and reproducing a tape-shaped magnetic recording medium and a rotary inclined magnetic head mechanism. SOLUTION: The inclined magnetic head IH1 provided with an inclined smooth plane ISP1 which has width shorter than width in a proceeding direction of a window section WD and gradually and inwardly inclines from forward to backward, is mounted in the window section WD provided by boring in an outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical rotary drum DR around which a magnetic tape MT can be wound so that the inclined smooth plane ISP1 is exposed at a position secluded from the outer peripheral surface and channels Ch11, Ch21 of a void shape are formed between both front and rear ends thereof and both ends of the window section WD. Further a head element HE1 performing magnetic interference by coming into contact with the magnetic tape MT is disposed within a range where the magnetic tape MT comes into contact with the inclined smooth plane ISP1.
