PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head slider capable of stable head loading by suppressing fluctuation in the contact force of a magnetic head with respect to atmospheric pressure fluctuation or impulse. SOLUTION: A positive pressure generation area 7 of a magnetic head slider 1 is provided on the inlet side of a flow with the rotation of a magnetic disk 13 while holding a plane, which belongs to a lowest-order stage, with a contact pad 5. Besides, the positive pressure generation area 7 belongs to the highest- order stage together with the contact pad 5. A squeeze pad area 8 of the magnetic head slider 1 is provided along with the direction of the flow of air with the rotation of the magnetic disk 13 while holding an area which belongs to a lowest-order stage, between the positive pressure generating part 7 and the contact pad 5. Besides, the squeeze pad area 8 is an area belonging to an intermediate stage. Thus, in the magnetic head slider 1, a squeeze effect can be provided while suppressing positive pressure generation.
