PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a low loss multiple optical fiber array having excellent operability to arrange many optical fibers, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: By forming a plurality of parallel V-shaped grooves 21 on a substrate 15 having a step consisting of a plain part 20 at the front side and a upland part 30 subsequent to the plain part 20 at the rear side from the upland part 30 toward the plain part 20, a deep groove part 16 having a depth at which a fixed optical fiber 8 to be arranged is buried and an ordinary groove part 19 having a depth at which the fiber 8 is enoughly buried are formed in the longitudinal direction of respective V-shaped grooves 21. The deep groove part 16 is provided with a lid 17. The fixed optical fiber 8 is inserted into each V-shaped groove correspondent to the fixed optical fiber 8 to be arrayed among the V-shaped grooves from the deep groove part 16 on the same V-shaped groove, is housed in the ordinary groove part 19, and thus the fixed optical fiber 8 is arrayed.
