PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To guarantee that position data are always received as data at a specific point of time without time delay as for a method and device for transmitting serial data between a position measuring system and a processing unit. SOLUTION: When one position data request signal is inputted while one data word is transmitted from this processing unit to this position measuring system, one position signal related with the temporal relative position of the position data request signal to the data word transmitted at that time is calculated. The calculated position signal is transmitted to the position measuring system. Then, the time corrected position data signal is transmitted to the processing unit.
